Glenfinnan Station Museum has their own brand of Ale!
Amid increasing visitor numbers for both the Glenfinnan Station Museum and The Jacobite Steam Train comes the launch of a range of special Scottish Ale for sale on the train and at the museum.
Following careful note of customer requests Glenfinnan Station Museum and the Isle of Skye Brewing Company have produced 3 bottled ales to suit a wide taste range. The bottle labels feature 3 different attractive West Highland Railway scenes and are marketed under the West Highland Steam Ale title.
Individually the products are called Full : Heavy : Light reflecting both taste and reference to the days of steam locally.
The products were launched at the Museum and on The Jacobite for the first time on Monday 23 July. Visitors and passengers were given the chance to taste the brews prior to purchase which resulted in a very merry journey to Mallaig for all concerned.
The launch coincides with the switch on of the new Glenfinnan Station Museum website where online shopping will feature the special bottled ales as well as other chosen merchandise.
This follows a Summer of high activity at Glenfinnan with a station rebuild now enhanced by a developing garden and flower display which is attracting attention and comments. Museum Director – Gerald Rivett already involved in the Spean Bridge Station Garden project is now involved with the garden at Glenfinnan Station and restoring some local pride in what our West Highland Stations should look like to users and visitors alike.
Museum Curator – John Barnes is delighted with the progress made this year with visitor numbers. The launch of both a new Harry Potter book and film is certainly playing a part and rumours of filming locally later this year for the next Harry Potter blockbuster will give another boost.
