New Website
Another vital step in the repositioning of Glenfinnan Station Museum as a major local tourist attraction comes this week in the announcement that local Fort William company HotScot will create the new website to be launched in June 2007.
Museum Director Gerald Rivett commented that HotScot had shown a unique local knowledge of tourism as well as core competence in the field of design and technical knowledge.
The new website will allow customers to view the facilities online and make direct enquiries for the Sleeping Car and the Dining Car.
Continuing the commercial drive initiated by recent changes in the Museum structure will be the introduction of an online Museum Gift Shop enabling the purchase of a selected range of gifts and railway memorabilia. This facility will allow out of season shopping at a time when the Museum Shop is closed.
Coupled to this is the plan to invite well known authors or artists connected to the railway scene to visit the Museum and The Jacobite steam train for Personal Signing Days of their work. The first of these is planned for late June and will be announced shortly.
A real coup would be to get a well known author of a certain series of Wizard books to perform this when the latest blockbuster is released this year. The Directors are trying to cast their own personal spell in this direction.
